Chapter 224: Going to Hokkaido

Hokkaido (北海道)

I’ve heard many great things about the northernmost part of Japan. I’ve googled many pictures and saved endless search tabs over the years. I want see it all, the quirks of nature, breathtaking landscapes, the buzzing nightlife of Sapporo, the Ainu people, seafood that is fresher than fresh, a thing called Curry Soup, Uni Don and Jingisukan.

I’ll be be packing my bags this spring!! Yes I would like to avoid the snow as much as possible please, I’ve been through too much of it this year already. Life is fair, but not fair enough. I only have a limited amount of time away from the office, so I will have to make the most of it. So far, sitting in my bag but not limited to. . .

  • Cape Kamui in Shakotan
  • Goryokaku in Hakodate
  • Takinoue Shibazakura Moss Phlox
  • Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park
  • Shirogane Blue Pond
  • Unkai Terrace (The Sea of Clouds) in Tomamu

I heard the blue pond is difficult to get to without a car. But, there are 5 buses that go there per day from Asahikawa and Biei. So, I’m up for the challenge! The one I’m most concerned about is the Sea of Clouds. As it’s a natural occurrence, I will either see it and make my dream come true, not see it but at least witness a clear beautiful view, or be submerged in the clouds and see nothing but cloud. Or, the worst outcome would be cancellations of the ropeway up Mt. Tomamu due to rain. I would cry silently inside if that was the case. Less than 2 months to go so, let’s hope the weather will be on my side to give me SHINE! 🌟
