This is Kyushu’s hidden gem. It may even be easily passed by and made a missed-opportunity. The grounds are of Shinto faith with so much to see and enjoy. Along the right side of the main shrine you will come across an ancient sumo wreslter statue with piercing golden eyes. The grounds feature many small shrines dedicated to tiny foxes, aged tori gates and a beautiful pond. My final photo here, was one of my favourites as a stray cat suddenly leaped onto the wall to get a closer look of the white falling snow. The shrine was very quiet, so quiet, a pin-drop could be heard. It was a like a little wonderland, with almost no people around, surrounded in peace.
