Chapter 338: Nagasaki Confucius Shrine (孔子廟)

Built in 1893 by the Chinese community in Nagasaki, the burst of colours and design of the buildings are absolutely beautiful. Decorated by lanterns and there is a museum and gift shop at the back. Admissions are 600 Yen/per person. The ticket office is located by the entrance and staff don’t speak a lot of English but offer Japanese and Chinese introductions. There were plenty to see from a small garden, a pond, stone bridges, statues and the shrine itself. The roof tops replicate what I would imagine if I went to China, Beijing. I arrived during the late afternoon and it was simply just me! And 1 more person. It was so silent, the atmosphere was almost unreal. Opening times are from 8:30am and closes at 17:00, last entry is at 16:30. It was very easy to locate, from the Ouratenshudo-shita tram stop is only about a 10 minute walk away.
