I’ve noticed that in Japan the majority of drivers park their cars by backing into the spaces! Of course not everybody but occasionally you can spot the odd ones out! I never knew it was a thing until I witnessed it myself at Yume Town in Kurume. I guess it makes leaving much easier and quicker, possibly more convinient for everyone else too. I don’t drive and have no idea about driving but it makes logical sense to me that this is the way it should be, do the hard work first then have it easier later.

interesting because here in the US or at least in the northeast, where I live, most people park head on. I think backing in makes more sense

We have the same thing here in Singapore. I think it’s because the parking lots are smaller and it’s easier to park back in.

I always park back in too as I don’t like to back out of a parking space (especially by big stores) with people walking all over and other cars moving about. When you drive head out it is much easier and safer. Cheers Pat
