What Shinkansen journey is complete without a scrumptious ekiben? Especially when it’s a 3.5-4 hour ride, just can’t let my stomach growl can I? I have never liked the taste of salmon roe, but in Hokkaido the taste is definitely very different. More fresh, crisp and it’s very addictively yummy. I was so addicted to the taste I kept having salmon roe onigiris. I also needed a good coffee to wake me up!!

Wow, what a beautiful ekiben! I swear your blog makes me want to visit Japan even just for bento and convenience store food.

While it is visually appealing, I don’t care for roe or caviar in any form. The coffee would suit me, though. I do think that train is just marvelous. Would love to ride on that one.
