Look who I found in Central Park?
It’s Hage San!
If you’ve been around Japan you’ve probably seen Tanuki statues here and there, even in Anime and Manga. Yashima no Hage Tanuki (屋島の禿狸) is a sort of supernatural spirit taking the form of a raccoon. This big and round stone statue is cute yet…if you look at his expression, it does appear sort of freaky but cool at the same time. I love finding interesting statues and this was a pretty good find!
