This particular shop features a mass of pottery. This was the キーストン(鍵石) 牧志店. Keystone Makishi store located on the main Kokusai-dori street. This store in particular was very busy and you had to be very careful, especially if you are carrying a backpack or a big bag. The store manager was keeping an eye out. They even had a little paper notice saying if you have unfortunately broken anything you will have to half the price. A lot of items were very pretty, handmade and original. Yachimun is the Okinawan way of saying Pottery. Traditionally Okinawa designs are based on nature ie. Plants and fish. So you’d definitely come across items that look and feel earthy.
I ate in several restaurants in Tokyo. They used locality- made hand made plates and bowls. Very good support for local potters!
