The day was wet and gloomy. But, here is something that I found very special when I first visited Kurume. This is one of the main attractions, a musical clock that plays different songs at different hours of the day. You can not miss it because it’s located in front of the station and it has been there since 1999. It was to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Tanaka Hisashige, a famous man who contributed to the development of modern Japanese technology. The design of the clock resembles a taiko drum and when it starts to play music the clocks face will flip around and then perform with moving dolls, even the chickens will move. It’s basically like a big music box!!
