Chapter 835: Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum (江戸東京たてもの園)

A continuation of my Ghibli tour last May. The next stop was the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum (江戸東京たてもの園) located in the western suburbs of Tokyo in Koganei. This served as great experience because some of the inspirations were taken from here by Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿) for Spirited Away. And certainly it did have a Ghibli feel. But the mass of tourists…Definitely an atmosphere killer, a little stressing at times as I don’t do very well in crowds. Luckily, some areas have open space, and the day was shining with sunshine. The museum exhibits a beautiful range of historic buildings from the Meiji Period. I simply love old Japanese wooden houses! My experience was a great one!! Would definitely recommend going on a less busy day or hour. By the way as far as I am aware the Museum is usually closed on a Monday.
