Fushimi Inari- Taisha. One of the top attractions that shouldn’t be missed. It’s good to go early in the morning, as it does become congested by slow moving floods of tourists in the afternoon. The thousands of red torii gates seemed never-ending, it was magical yet mysterious, almost unreal like a movie set. It comes as a rich piece of Japanese culture digging deep into the towering trees. I was very excited to not only witness the beautiful gates but, the dozens and dozens of fox statues that surround the grounds. Fushimi Inari-Taisha is dedicated to Inari, a Shinto God of rice and sake dating back to the 8th century. All was so well preserved, I couldn’t help but to admire everything I saw and carve it into my memory.
Admissions to the shrine is free. Access is very easy, from Kyoto Station you can take the JR Nara Line via Nara / Joyo / Uji, it’s about a 5 minute ride for 140 yen one way. Once you leave Inari station there is no missing the alluring entrance, with a torii gate welcoming you in alongside a huge black fox statue!!
